October 12, 2026 Monday - Yesterday was Butter’s birthday! She’s the first dog that I can remember that I know their actual birthday. I was too wiped out from the early start and long drive back from Kansas yesterday, so today at lunch I went and did a little grocery shopping. I made some roasted broccoli with lemon and parmesan as a side. This was my plate but there lots more steak for the pups to share along with a little bit of broccoli. Not a bad birthday dinner at all.
October 11, 2026 Sunday - I didn’t sleep well last night and was up a bit before 6a. It didn’t take long to realize I wasn’t going back to sleep, so I got up and ready. This is out behind the hotel when we came out for Zak’s morning pee break. We packed up and head home a little after 7a. It was a long drive but we weren’t in any hurry to get back so we stopped a few times for gas and walks and food. This really made think about what it would be like to have just one dog.
October 10, 2026 Saturday - This weekend Zak and I did a guys trip up to Kansas for one of my God Daughter’s wedding. Pancake stayed with my sister, my nephew and his wife helped out with Butter and since Zak isn’t good with most anyone but me, he came along for the ride. Thankfully the hotel was dog friendly. He’s such a great dog one on one. We had a great time even if it was a lot of driving. It was great spending time with all their family.
October 9, 2026 Friday - The pups got more toys with their burgers the other day. I don’t understand how this happens. They always ask what drink I want with the meal and I tell them I just want the burger. When I get home I have kid’s meals with no drinks. At least this time I know what the toys are. I still don’t know what those “toys” were that we got a few weeks ago.
October 8, 2026 Thursday - I need to stop shopping at Target. These little $5 sets are pretty cool. I don’t have any other Batman Lego sets and I don’t really have a want to collect them, but this set caught my eye. It’s pretty cool what they do with just a few blocks and a couple of mini-figures. Maybe I’ll stop collecting the big sets and switch the little ones.
October 7, 2026 Wednesday - There’s a Paris Baguette in Mansfield. It’s not anywhere I would normally drive past, but my nephew’s wife told me about it. I’ve picked up treats for me and my sister a few times so after lunch yesterday she wanted to go. She really stocked up. I got a cream-filled donut and this chocolate croissant I saved for today. I think I will just be getting these from now on. I’m 100% sure this will be my photo of the day again at some point in the future.
October 6, 2026 Tuesday - Today I was supposed to meet a friend lunch at our favorite local pho place. She had to cancel on me so I called my sister and we went to get some pho. It was especially good today. These salt and pepper shakers look so retro to me. Like they should be in a vintage kitchen from the 50’s or something. We stopped to get some snacks on the way home.
October 5, 2026 Monday - It’s crazy how it’s only been a few days of rain and so much of the ground is now covered in green instead of yellow. These little white flowers are sprouting up all over the yard in patches. According to the info in Photos, this is a Star of Bethlehem or Rain Lily. It’s about a foot tall, but these flowers are only about an inch and a half across.
October 4, 2026 Sunday - We’ve had so much rain the last few days. Today was no different. I drove up north again to meet another friend for an early lunch. She also gave me a dog bed she’s not using anymore. It’s become Pancake’s bed in my bedroom. It’s bigger than she needs so I’ve been calling her Princess Pancake when she goes to bed. This is one of the creeks near my house. Usually it barely has water in it.
October 3, 2026 Saturday - Today was a good day. Well not for my dogs. I was gone a lot. I started out by meeting a friend for lunch. The food was not great, but there were lots of puppies on the patio. There was also a lady that looked like Niki/Jessica from the show Heroes. She was pretty but kinda scary. After lunch I went up north to hang out with my friend. We enjoyed some great steaks and cigars after his daughter’s volleyball game.
October 2, 2026 Friday - I did a bit more shopping at Target. While I was there I picked up three more of these sets. Thankfully they’re pretty cheap. This is my third of the eight different models in the collection. I have one more box to open. So far I have two steam rollers, two excavators and this dump truck. The real question is who much will I have to spend to get the other five models.
October 1, 2026 Thursday - One of my coworkers lives in Chicago. She went to Europe a while back and I asked her to pick me up a couple of small rocks. Just from anywhere. I also asked her to take photo of them where she picked them up. She brought them with her to our work meeting the little round one is from outside the Colosseum in Rome. The other is from a little restaurant in Austria. The photos she sent were pretty cool too.
