March 31, 2026 Tuesday - Today I had to go to Dallas to do some head shots at a client’s office. I got here at 11a so traffic wasn’t too bad getting there. Getting home was a whole different story. It took forever just to get to the highway from the office, and it wasn’t that far. I do not miss Dallas traffic at all.
March 30, 2026 Monday - This is one of the toys Butter came home with. She has chewed the orange ring almost completely through. And yes, there are little bits of orange, blue, and yellow plastic all over the floor every day. And yes, there are little bits of orange, blue, and yellow plastic in her poop too.
March 29, 2026 Sunday - I’ve taken a few photos like this, but they’re usually in the evening. Until Butter, it was very unusual for me to be up and about early in the morning, so getting a photo like this was not going to happen. Pancake tends to walk as far away from Butter as possible. She’s not a fan.
March 28, 2026 Saturday - A while back, I got on the Midlothian Animal Shelter Facebook page. I scrolled back and found the post when Butter was originally up for adoption. Her mom was picked up the day before she was born. I remember seeing her and wanting her then. She was born 10/11/25, and they were all given Halloween-themed names. She was Wisp.
March 27, 2026 Friday - I have a collection of cigar bands on my desk that I’ve been saving to put in an empty Jack bottle. The last one was an empty Single Barrel bottle. (See Nov 6, 2024) This is the last of my bottle of Sinatra Select. The empty bottle will now be the new home for the next several years of cigar bands.
March 26, 2026 Thursday - The last time I made red sauce, I made a whole bunch. I pulled out the container of sauce from the fridge and put it on the stove to heat up. I also put a big pot of water to boil to cook the spaghetti. I need to find something that’s not as thick as this spaghetti and not as thin as the angel hair pasta I had last time.
March 25, 2026 Wednesday - It’s been about 22 years since I’ve had a puppy. It’s long enough to forget how much work and all the messes they make. Shadow was such a horribly destructive dog, not just as a puppy. Fortunately, Butter came with a few different chew toys that she’s really fond of. She’s not really chewed on anything she shouldn’t, and yes, I knocked on wood just now.
March 24, 2026 Tuesday - I spent a little bit of time working from the couch today. I know Butter has been monopolizing my dog photos lately, but today Pancake slept next to me for a little while. Butter used to split time harassing Pancake and Biscuit. With Biscuit not being here, she annoys Pancake quite a bit more. At least she’s just playing and not being aggressive.
March 23, 2026 Monday - I did a bunch of freelance work today, which means I spent a significant amount of time at my desk pushing my mouse around. In the middle of the afternoon, I needed a little pick-me-up. I still have a few cookies left, so I popped this Ultimate Chocolate Chip cookie in the microwave for a bit and had this warm cookie as a snack.
March 22, 2026 Sunday - This box of chocolates has lasted me quite a long while, but this is finally my last one. I don’t remember how much money I made editing those Kilwins videos last year, but I do know I’ve given them quite a significant amount back with all the purchases I’ve made since then. Such good stuff!
March 21, 2026 Saturday - Today I went up north to hang out with my friend and his family. I stopped by the cigar shop to get a few supplies. These were at the counter when I was checking out, and I couldn’t help but grab a couple. These are a bit pricey, but I turned in a decent invoice the other day, so I thought, “Why not!”
March 20, 2026 Friday - Butter gets up pretty early, and she’s really got my sleep schedule back on a tight schedule. It’s finally not a fire drill in the morning to get her out the door. She knows to hold it until I get fully dressed and get the other pups leashed up and ready for our walk. One of our neighbors down the street has a bunch of these growing along their driveway.
March 19, 2026 Thursday - I did a little bit of work late in the day from the couch. Butter takes a bit to calm down when I sit on the couch, but when she finally doesn’t, she sleeps really hard. She woke up a bit a few times when I was taking her photo, but I managed to get this one of her with her eyes closed. I wonder if she’ll grow into those ears.
March 18, 2026 Wednesday - This evening I needed a little pick-me-up. Sadly this is my last Stuffed Carrot Cake cookie. I warmed it up a bit which made it even better. I still have a decent number of cookies left, but I’m going to start spreading them out a little bit. I put most of them in the freezer to help me slow down.
March 17, 2026 Tuesday - My sister brought back pizza for us while she was out this afternoon. She also had a bag of treats for me and the pups. It’s always very random stuff. An avocado, some small packs of wet dog food, a couple of mandarin oranges and a couple of Dove dark chocolate pudding cups. These are pretty good.
March 16, 2026 Monday - Getting a photo with my camera instead of my phone is a bit of a challenge. Butter is very curious about everything. The foggy corner in this photo is from the smudge from her nose on the lens. I got online and looked at the shelter’s Facebook page and found her original adoption photo from when she was only 2 month old. She was so cute.
March 15, 2026 Sunday - Today I took the pups for a ride to run some errands. We went through the carwash, picked up my prescriptions at Kroger and then picked up lunch. This was our first ride without Biscuit. Pancake didn’t seem to want to ride in her seat. She kept hopping up to ride on the console. I think she just likes to see where we’re going. I think it was harder on me than them.
March 14, 2026 Saturday - Before Biscuit passed, Pancake would lay on my right, Butter on my left and Biscuit in the middle in the crook of one of my knees. Butter has decided that is a prime spot and has taken her place. I took a bit of a nap today and Butter and Pancake kept me company for a while.
March 13, 2026 Friday - Yes, I still have cookies. Yes, I did buy a whole bunch in a very short time. My friend is not back full time so I stock up when I can. This is her Butterscotch Toffee cookie. I’m not even a big fan of butterscotch or toffee but this cookie is really good. Also I am beginning to run low on cookies so these won’t last much longer.
March 12, 2026 Thursday - Today I went to meet a friend a two of her kids for dinner at our favorite Italian restaurant. Our third friend is still MIA. It was good to have a fun distraction for the evening. Getting up to north Dallas was easy until I got off George Bush. 635 and the side roads were all terrible. I don’t miss this Dallas traffic at all.
March 11, 2026 Wednesday - This morning I got a call telling me Biscuit didn’t survive the night after her surgery yesterday. This was completely unexpected and really hit me hard. I hate that she was alone in a kennel when she passed. I brought her home and buried her out front next to Zeke, Vegas, Shadow, and Grace. I took a break after preparing her grave and had a long talk with her before I laid her to rest.
March 10, 2026 Tuesday - This morning, Butter got us all up really early. I had to take her and Biscuit to the vet, so it was a good thing. The downside was that by mid-afternoon, I really needed a little pick-me-up. This is my friend’s Ultimate Chocolate Chip cookie. It is stuffed with lots and lots of chocolate and is best warmed with a bit of cold milk.
March 9, 2026 Monday - A while back I saw something that made me want spaghetti. My spaghetti specifically. I was going to make this yesterday, but I was not feeling so great. Not only did I make spaghetti, I made a really big pot of red sauce for some other pasta dishes later this week.
March 8, 2026 Sunday - This morning I woke up with quite a headache. One good thing is Zak jumped up and laid down with me for a while before we had to get up to take Butter to pee. I was pretty lazy all day, which means Butter spent a majority of her day right here lying in my lap. My boss texted me asking for a photo of my “new” puppy. So I got this for her.
March 7, 2026 Saturday - Today was a good day. I went to meet a friend for dessert, but the gelato place I went to last weekend doesn’t open until 1 p.m. We were meeting at noon. We ended up going for snacks and beer. It was good to get caught up. On the way home, another friend called me, so I stopped for a late real lunch along with an Attitude Adjustment. I was a bit worthless the rest of the day.
March 6, 2026 Friday - This was my late afternoon snack. Another great flavor from my cookies-making friend. This is the Dark Chocolate Pistachio cookie. The faint specks of green added a little bit of color to a really delicious cookie. I had a little glass of cold milk to go with it. This totally hit the spot today! I’m sure it hits the spot any day!
March 5, 2026 Thursday - Butter got up especially early today. I got this photo just as we were starting our walk down the street. It was good to get an early start this morning. I got a bit more work done before leaving to meet a friend for pho for lunch. Getting up so early did make for a bit of a long day.
March 4, 2026 Wednesday - Today I had my last appointment with my rheumatologist. She got a new gig and is moving on. She’s been my doctor for 9 years and helped me get through a really rough patch when my meds stopped working back in 2017. When I think of my trip to Mexico in 2019, to Colombia in 2022, and even the wedding last month, I think of how she helped me get through those times.
March 3, 2026 Tuesday - This didn’t last too long, but we’re making progress. Butter is learning to take her turn when we do treats and snacks. She’s also beginning to understand the routine when we get our leashes on for our walks. And I think Pancake is starting to understand that Butter is just playing when she jumps at her. It’s not easy yet, but we’re getting there.
March 2, 2026 Monday - Today was another busy day. I started a new video project for work, and then one of my freelance clients sent me some work to get done this evening. This was my late afternoon snack: the Chocolate Covered Strawberry cookie. My friend is some kind of alchemist with cookie flavors. This is so good. Fortunately, I didn’t have to work too late.
March 1, 2026 Sunday - Today was another good day. I went up north to meet another friend for lunch. We had a good meal, but the dessert place we went to first was closed. We ended up trying an incredible gelato place. Can’t wait to go there again. Later, I went out to dinner with some of the family. I got this photo just down the street when I was leaving home this morning.
