June 2026

June 30, 2026 Tuesday - Now that Butter has gotten a little bit older and seems to have her “accidents in the house” phase behind her, I finally bought a couple of new dog beds. Butter peed on all the others. Zak really likes them. Butter has gotten accustomed to just lying on the blanket when she’s not using it for tug-of-war.

June 29, 2026 Monday - I finally found a new rheumatologist. My last one got a great new position down in Austin. One of the best things about my new doctor is that her office is a bit closer and just down the street from this Attitude Adjustment. I met a friend for lunch before heading back to the house for more work.

June 28, 2026 Sunday - I decided to take the pups on a roadtrip after our morning walk. We stopped for breakfast tacos and gas then headed down to Elgin. We had a walk and then some bbq in the park before heading back home. This cross lights up bright blue at night and when I was little when I saw this I new we were almost to my grandparent’s house.

June 27, 2026 Saturday - No Photo

June 26, 2026 Friday - Today I took half the day off to meet a friend. Her daughter had a swim meet in Mansfield, and I’ve not gotten to see them in a long time. I wish I would have thought to bring my camera. We had pretty decent seats. She shaved 5 seconds off her time. After the meet, we all went to a late lunch. It was good to get to spend time with them today.

June 25, 2026 Thursday - Lego sets always have a few extra little pieces. I used to put them in an old cigar box. More recently, I put them in a mug I have on the desk. I recently emptied this bottle and rinsed it out. I gave it some time to dry, and it’s already half full of Legos. I have three sets still in boxes, so I’ll be adding to this soon.

June 24, 2026 Wednesday - Included in my Father’s Day gifts from Riley was a package of these Ghirardelli squares. First, they’re dark chocolate. Second, they’re Lava Cake flavored. I’ve never tried these before, but boy are they good. Definitely my new favorite. I’m doing good not eating the whole bag in one day.

June 23, 2026 Tuesday - I’ve been seeing this little rabbit in the front yard for a few days in a row now. It’s crazy how the dogs never see it, and this little guy doesn’t seem the least bit bothered or scared. The other day we walked right past it in the driveway, and it didn’t move until we got past it. And even as it ran off, the dogs never noticed.

June 22, 2026 Monday - When I was getting groceries yesterday, I picked up a bag of cherries. I love when I get a bag of cherries and they taste as good as these do. There’s nothing worse than a whole bag of bland, flavorless cherries. Especially when you consider how much they cost. This bowl was my dessert tonight.

June 21, 2026 Sunday - Butter got us all up a bit earlier than usual. We got out for a long walk and then ran into town for some groceries and breakfast. I had to get some stuff for the desserts I’m making for our Father’s Day get-together next door. My brother made ribs, brisket, and sausage. Nothing better than spending time with family and having good food.

June 20, 2026 Saturday - In a couple of weeks, I’m going to be taking care of my buddies, Hank and Herbie, my nephew’s pups. My nephew and his family invited me out to lunch as a preemptive “thank you”. They even took me out for ice cream after. It’s always fun hanging out with him and his family. We were sitting under a red umbrella here.

June 19, 2026 Friday - We had the day off work today, so I met one of the guys I work with for lunch. We went to a ramen place in Mansfield. It was pretty good, but the bakery a few doors down had a big selection of delicious-looking treats. I picked up a coffee donut thing for my sister and this chocolate croissant for myself. I almost couldn’t stop to get this photo.

June 18, 2026 Thursday - We got an early start today. I got up and checked the crockpot and then got ready for our morning walk. We still aren’t doing our full walks yet. I saw this growing along the fence by the driveway while we were out this morning. I went back in and got my camera. I’ve never been a morning person, so I really love the golden morning light.

June 17, 2026 Wednesday - A couple of days ago, I seasoned this pork roast with blackened seasoning and brown sugar. I put it on the grill after work today. The sugar got a little too “crispy”. After an hour or so on the grill, I brought it in and put it in the crockpot. I added some more seasoning, some crushed tomatoes, and pineapple. It will be ready in the morning.

June 16, 2026 Tuesday - I was really busy with work today too. My knee is almost back to normal now, but I’m still not doing our normal walks with the pups yet. The sun shines into the house a little differently at this time of year, and after our evening walk, I came back and saw this shadow on the wall. I thought it looked kinda cool.

June 15, 2026 Monday - Today was pretty busy with work, so by the end of the workday, I didn’t have a photo idea. I looked over and saw Eve sitting here. I finished this last night along with the little cleaner robot. I’ve kinda wanted this set for a while, but I really don’t have any space for more Lego sets. But that never stopped me before. Hahahaha

June 14, 2026 Sunday - Yesterday I had a flare-up in my knee for the first time in a really long time. It made it pretty uncomfortable to walk. My knee was still quite a bit swollen today but a bit less painful. Thankfully, one of my birthday presents was this Wall-E Lego set. I spent a chunk of the day on the couch building this.

June 13, 2026 Saturday - Today was a good day. I met a friend for a birthday lunch, and then we went for some dessert. After that, I went to meet Riley and Ari for an early birthday dinner. We were planning to go to Roman Cucina, but they don’t open until 5p. We ended up at Mi Cocina. Which is funny now that I’m typing that. Apparently, I like kitchens. Cheers.

June 12, 2026 Friday - This is one of the little boxes of chocolates I picked up last night at Kilwins. I also got a bag of the small dark chocolate bars. I love the morning light here in the kitchen. And no, I didn’t have one for breakfast; I had one last night on the way home. After our last pee break at a gas station outside Hillsboro, all the pups slept the rest of the way home.

June 11, 2026 Thursday - For my birthday, I decided to take a little road trip down to Waco to get some Kilwins. But first, we stopped at Terry Blacks for a bit of brisket. You can see one of my camping boxes with the cutting board, bowls, and utensils, and the folding stairs for Zak. Butter’s manners have improved dramatically since the last time we went out to eat. Today was a good day.

June 10, 2026 Wednesday - I don’t know if this is a bad omen or not, but when I walked out this morning with the pups, I noticed these two birds on my brother’s roof. It made me keep a closer eye on Pancake. Every time I see these birds, I just hear the vultures from The Jungle Book. “Hey, what do you want to do?” “I dunno. What do you want to do?”

June 9, 2026 Tuesday - Last week, my dear friend let me know she would be baking over the weekend. Yesterday, she sent me a box of cookies. UPS roughed up the box, but the contents were safe and intact. This particular cookie is her White Chocolate Cranberry Oatmeal. I love an oatmeal cookie in almost any form. This one is especially delicious.

June 8, 2026 Monday - For the longest time, I’ve not felt like cooking. That really sucks when there aren’t any restaurants near you. Anyway, I think that’s finally going away. Today, I got my grill fired up for the first time in forever and grilled some chicken and corn. I made a really good salad with both. I’m adding tomatoes next time I make this.

June 7, 2026 Sunday - I think Butter has webbed feet. Zak, Pancake, and Biscuit didn’t let me mess with their feet at all. I tried messing with Butter’s feet, so hopefully, she’ll let me do her nails. While messing with her while she was sleeping, I noticed her toes have quite a bit of webbing. I made Zak let me check his feet to make sure they really are different.

June 6, 2026 Saturday - Today we finally were able to all get together for dinner for Rane’s birthday. Riley called me just before I left and asked if the weather was okay for the drive. It was just cloudy here. It rained off and on and sometimes heavily, but I got here to Addison on time. It’s always good to get to see all of them together. Today was a good day.

June 5, 2026 Friday - It’s been a bit of a slow week for me. Today I decided to make this for lunch. I’ve not made it in a really long time, and it doesn’t take long to make. These tomatoes are quite a bit bigger than what I normally use for this, but they were still really good. I’ve had them in the window for a while now. I love the light here in the kitchen.

June 4, 2026 Thursday - I’ve been picking up the little pieces of the ball Butter found for the last two days. I’ve been collecting them all together on a side table. I like the way they catch the light sometimes. They also catch a lot of dog hair. The largest piece rolled under some furniture, and it’s been funny watching Butter trying to get it out.

June 3, 2026 Wednesday - They lay here fighting and wrestling all the time now. Occasionally, Butter will get a little too rough, and Pancake will bite her for real. Sometimes, Butter will put her paw on Pancake and just hold her down. It’s an unfair advantage, but it’s been fun watching how active and playful all the dogs are now.

June 2, 2026 Tuesday - Most mornings after our walks, we come in and relax for a bit. Usually, sometime mid-morning, Zak will come in, and Butter will bring something to him for them to play tug-of-war with. Once all the chaos calms down, Zak usually wanders back to our room to rest. Butter usually brings her toys to the couch and chews on them by herself until she falls asleep.

June 1, 2026 Monday - This used to be a ball. I don’t know where this came from, but Butter found it earlier today and had a whole lot of fun with it while it was still rolling and bouncing around. Zak came in later, and that’s when they started fighting over it. Not fighting, fighting, but it’s not big enough to play tug-of-war. There are little bits of this all over the floor now.
