April 30, 2026 Thursday - This is the first time I’ve felt up to leaving the house. After our mid-morning potty break, I took the pups into town to get some lunch and breakfast for tomorrow. We went through the drive-throughs, and this guy was parked next to us at the breakfast spot. Poor guy looks like he’s been in a rough spot before.
April 29, 2026 Wednesday - No Photo
April 28, 2026 Tuesday - After my giving away four bunches of bananas when I ordered too many on my last grocery order, I only had two bunches for me and the pups. Being sick definitely didn’t help. Thankfully, all the pups like bananas, only these last 3 went to waste. When I picked them up, all the stems broke. That’s Butter’s nose.
April 27, 2026 Monday - I feel hungry from time to time, but nothing sounds good except pho. The only thing that sits well for the last several days are these saltine crackers and 7-Up. I’m running low on crackers and had my last 7-Up yesterday. I need to do another grocery order soon.
April 26, 2026 Sunday - These bottles have been my best friends for the last several days. This is my second bottle of Dayquil, and it makes the days bearable along with a bag of cherry-flavored Halls. Being sick sucks in general, but the worst of this one is the headache I have all the time.
April 25, 2026 Saturday - I’ve not been feeling like eating much of anything for the last few days, even though I feel a bit hungry. Today I decided to order some pho for lunch and another order for tomorrow too. I must say this really hit the spot, even though they sent it with lemon slices and not limes. People who think they’re the same are horribly lost.
April 24, 2026 Friday - Today wasn’t much better than yesterday. I’m still feeling really sick, but at least it doesn’t hurt to cough. My twice-daily walks down the street and back have now been reduced to walks to the end of the driveway and back. I found this on the driveway on our afternoon walk.
April 23, 2026 Thursday - Yesterday I woke up feeling absolutely horrible. I spent the day dying on the couch. Today wasn’t much better, but I spent the day working from the couch. Butter did a good job of keeping me company. She was doing what I felt like doing pretty much the whole day.

April 21, 2026 Tuesday - This is my last Sparkle Cookie. I don’t know when my dear friend will be baking again, so I really had to savor this one. Like all the others, I put this in the microwave for just a little bit. Even though I kept this in the freezer for a while, warming it up made it taste just as good as ever. I wish I had one or two more.
April 20, 2026 Monday - My SIL texted me earlier today. She said she and my brother picked up a surprise for me. They picked up a few of these chocolate Whoopie Pies for me. These were especially fresh too. I’m still not feeling all that great, but this went a long way to making me feel a bit better.
April 19, 2026 Sunday - Today after our midday potty break, I thought it would be a good idea to go for a lunch break. I took the pups to a new-ish taco place in Mansfield. I got a good photo of Butter and Zak out the window on the way, but when we were pulling backup to the house, I saw this guy in the grass next to the driveway.
April 18, 2026 Saturday - I started feeling like I was coming down with something yesterday afternoon. It’s still lingering today, so I spent quite a bit of time relaxing on the couch with the pups. Pancake and Butter are making relationship progress. In the last few days, they seem to be playing with each other, not just Pancake telling Butter to leave her alone.
April 17, 2026 Friday - I did a grocery order today. When the lady delivered it, she mentioned my bananas smelled so good. I thought nothing of it. It wasn’t until I was unpacking that I realized instead of ordering 6 bananas, I ordered 6 bunches of bananas. I saw my brother and his wife walking by, so I gave them a bunch and gave a bunch to my sister. Later, I gave away two more bunches. Thankfully, bananas are cheap.
April 16, 2026 Thursday - I got a text this morning letting me know my prescriptions were ready for pick-up. I decided to take a bit of a lunch break to go get them. I got the pups packed and drove into town. We did the drive-thru at Kroger and then drove over to DQ for burgers for all of us. It’s fun getting out for a ride with all the pups.
April 15, 2026 Wednesday - This little stuffed animal was one of Zak’s Christmas presents. He never played with it. Butter, on the other hand, loves to chew on most any toy. She’s chewed the top of his hat off, and now the hat and his head have no stuffing at all. She hopped up on the couch to play for a bit, and I got this photo of her looking cute.
April 14, 2026 Tuesday - It’s been a long while since I visited a Kilwins. I buy a small bag of these little dark chocolates, and I must say this bag has lasted me quite a long while. But this is my last one. I need to make a trip soon. I can’t go too long without a supply of chocolates. I need to plan a dinner in Grapevine soon with someone.
April 13, 2026 Monday - Today, Butter got up really early. She’s really starting to break me in the morning. Late in the afternoon, I really start to struggle to keep my eyes open. Our 5:30 alarm to go out for our evening walk is almost like an alarm to wake up. This is how Butter and Pancake spent their evening.
April 12, 2026 Sunday - My brother invited me over for dinner. They’re celebrating a bunch of birthdays in the family. I have a bunch of photos of me and my nephew’s daughter. She always likes to take silly selfies with me. I have a bunch of the two of us! When I finally left to go feed my pups, the sky was all weird yellow-ish.
April 11, 2026 Saturday - For the last several days, Butter has been getting up even earlier than usual. Thankfully, she’s learned not to pee right away, but even still, it’s really early on the weekend for no reason. I took a not-so-little nap this afternoon on the couch and was woken up again by Butter barking at nothing outside.
April 10, 2026 Friday - I took the day off work again to see my God Daughter get married. It was so good to see all the family, many of whom I’ve not seen in a really long time. Her new husband is such a cool guy. He always has a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. It’s been such a great week to spend so much time with friends who are like family.
April 9, 2026 Thursday - I have a friend who moved out to Granbury last year. His daughter, one of my God Daughters, is getting married tomorrow. One of my other God Daughters is in town for the ceremony. I drove out to see them this evening at their new place. From my house, it’s quickest to go through Glen Rose. It was so good to see them all.
April 8, 2026 Wednesday - Some time during the night last night, there was a fire a few houses down the road. I don’t know the details, but somehow that turned into a gunfight with firefighters, police, and the homeowner. I woke up to a couple of texts from my sister and nephew’s wife. I slept through the sirens and gunshots. If the dogs reacted, I slept through that too.
April 7, 2026 Tuesday - I took the day off today to go see my friend. Her daughter is in town from Colorado, and I’ve not seen either of them in a very long time. I’ve known her daughter since she was five. She asked me to make her some Chocolate Pillows. I’ve not made these in a really, really long time. I must admit I ate a couple on the way to her house.
April 6, 2026 Monday - Sometimes I work from the couch. A lot of the times when I sit here, Pancake will come get on my right side. I think she’s just trying to get some distance between her and Butter. I love Pancake’s little curly mohawk. She seems to be getting a bit scruffier in her older age.
April 5, 2026 Sunday - Happy Easter. Today I met Riley and Ari for a late lunch. It was good to get to spend time with them. She showed me a bunch of their wedding photo proofs. After lunch, I got back home and went next door. It was fun to watch a bunch of my nieces and nephew’s kids do their Easter egg hunt. Today was a good day.
April 4, 2026 Saturday - It was a long week, and fortunately, my good friend invited me over today for some time on the patio smoking a couple of good cigars with a Jack and Coke nearby. To the people who invented cigars and all the people over time who have cultivated and improved them, I raise a glass to you. The best part of my day was sitting right here.
April 3, 2026 Friday - A while back, I took the pups out to Dairy Queen for burgers. I always order them two kid’s burgers with just meat, cheese, and buns. They always ask if I want the whole kid’s meal, and I always decline. When we got home, their burgers were each in their own bag along with a toy.
April 2, 2026 Thursday - Today, a friend I’ve not seen in a long while called me. She mentioned she had a hard day and could use a drink. We went to one of our favorite places and shared a big Attitude Adjustment with extra Tajín on the side. To be honest, having a big drink sounded like a really good idea to me too. Especially given it was great patio weather.
April 1, 2026 Wednesday - I went over to talk with my brother after my evening walk with the pups. I got there just in time to see the Artemis II launch. The first trip to the moon was shortly after I was born, and the last time was when I was three. I can’t believe it’s been 50 years since we were there. Makes me wonder what I won’t live to see 50 years from now.
