July 31, 2025 Thursday - The other day when I was getting my grocery order together, I was on the Kroger website. They were promoting stuff for grilling, and the stuff for hot dogs sounded like a good idea. The hot dogs I got came in two packs of four, so it wasn’t just chili dog night for me. Two for me, one for Zak, and one for Biscuit and Pancake to share. They got a little hot dog, a bit of the bun, chili, and cheese in with their kibble.
July 30, 2025 Wednesday - This was my “company” for part of the afternoon. Biscuit has started hopping up on the back of the couch and laying here while I work. It’s not really an issue until she starts snoring, which is kind of loud. Then I just want to push her over the edge onto the couch. I don’t do it, of course, but I do think it every time.
July 29, 2025 Tuesday - I’ve been needing to go grocery shopping for a while now. I’ve been hoping to get out to do some shopping but the last several evenings I’ve been getting freelance requests. The cupboards were really starting to get bare so yesterday I scheduled a delivery. I put these in the fridge right away so I could have a bowl of cold cherries for an afternoon snack.
July 28, 2025 Monday - One of the treats I got for myself yesterday was a bag of these small, dark chocolate bars. This probably is about the same quantity of chocolate as a Hershey kiss, but this might be my new favorite dark chocolate. There were so many more goodies there that I’d like to try so I guess it’s for the best that the nearest one is an hour away.
July 27, 2025 Sunday - I waited long enough! I made plans with Riley to meet her and Ari in Grapevine at one my favorite Mexican restaurants, Esparza’s. Lunch was just an excuse to get dessert. The Kilwins is just a short walk from the restaurant. We all got a few snacks. After we went to a little book shop to do a little more shopping. Even though I had to do a little bit of work when I got home it was another really good day.
July 26, 2025 Saturday - Today is going to be my only weekend off for a while. I’ve got a couple of new projects coming up that will keep me busy for the next few weeks. I tried to take advantage of these couple of days free by meeting my friend and have some good food, lots of laughs, a few drinks and a cigar or two. I picked up Whataburger for the pups on the way home. It shouldn’t be a good day just for me.
July 25, 2025 Friday - After work I took a quick little nap. My car has been running quite bit sluggish lately and my brother recommended that I put an additive in the tank and take it for a long drive. After my nap I took the pups into town to pick up dinner, add the fuel treatment to the tank and fill the car with gas. We took a quick drive down to Hillsboro. I almost drove down to Waco to visit the Kilwins there.
July 24, 2025 Thursday - This morning my sister got out early to run some errands. I don’t know what, but she dropped off some treats for me and the pups when she came back. She has a weakness for donuts, so she brought me a chocolate donut and a blueberry cake donut too. She got little pigs in blankets for the pups too. They really like her now.
July 23, 2025 Wednesday - I put a lot of miles on this thing today. I took a couple of vacations days to get some other work done. I did a lot of work on the chocolate videos. I wish there were something else to write about today, but I seriously spent most of my waking time today at my desk pushing this mouse around. I took the pups for walks but other than that I was at my desk.
July 22, 2025 Tuesday - This evening I had work to do after work, but I really needed a break. Fortunately my sister-in-law texted me to invite me to join them for dinner at Rosa’s. I love their tortillas. I got there a bit early and say a few people walking by with one of these. I didn’t even know they sold margaritas. These aren’t the greatest but they’re still pretty good.
July 21, 2025 Monday - Today was a busy day at work. After work, I took the pups for a walk and then we went for dinner. I got another photo of Pancake sitting in her favorite spot on the console. Biscuit always gets in my seat as soon as I get out of the car. I took them all to get burgers at Dairy Queen. I didn’t get them pup cups. I try not to spoil them.
July 20, 2025 Sunday - I’ve been working on videos for Kilwins. Until I got this assignment I’d never heard of them. It didn’t take long to figure out they are an ice cream, fudge and chocolate store. Once I realized this I had to find out if there’s one anywhere near me. The closest one is an hour away. So I spent most of the day looking at chocolate and hearing about how they make all the treats, but not getting any.
July 19, 2025 Saturday - A while back I picked up a six pack of Pacifico. I don’t drink beer very often, but when I do I really like a cold Shiner or Pacifico. I spent a bunch of the day working on another editing project. At the end of the day a good cold beer sounded just right. It took me a second to find my bottle opener.
July 18, 2025 Friday - This morning while I was walking the pups I noticed my brother had quite a few large mushrooms growing in his yard. I meant to come home, let the dogs in, grab my camera and go get a photo. When I got back I got right back to work. A little later in the day I saw my brother and invited him to lunch. I got my camera this time. Every time I got my camera close to the ground the lens would fog up.
July 17, 2025 Thursday - I’ve been trying to get lunch with my sister for a couple of days. I really wanted pho, but this morning I was craving enchiladas. It’s weird that sour cream chicken enchiladas are not a thing everywhere enchiladas are made. From my understanding it’s a Tex-Mex thing. I guess I’ll just count my blessing that I’m here in Texas. These were good but they really got me thinking of Mia’s in Dallas.
July 16, 2025 Wednesday - Today I wasn’t crazy busy with work so I decided to go into town to get some lunch. I took the pups with me for the ride. We decided to get tacos from Torchy’s. They are much better when you eat them there. By the time I got home my tacos were a bit sad. The pups got breakfast tacos. They seemed to like theirs. Pancake like to sit on the console.
July 15, 2025 Tuesday - Today I received some freelance work that needed to be done this evening. So after a full day of work, I spent a a bit more time at my desk. It only took a few hours, but after the last several days I’m being to get tired of sitting at my desk all the time. It made for a long day and a simple sandwich for dinner. At the end of the day I needed a photo. Zak was the subject today.
July 14, 2025 Monday - I keep a container of mixed nuts on my desk for a snack. This afternoon Biscuit heard me open the container. My couch is just to left of my desk. So when she hears me eating, instead of hopping down and walking around the couch she just hops up on the arm of the couch and then on to the top of the back. Sometimes she decides to just stay there.
July 13, 2025 Sunday - I spent a portion of the day finishing up some freelance work and doing some cleaning around the house. More freelance than cleaning. Late in the evening, I was being lazy on the couch with the pups when I realized I hadn’t taken a photo for today. My camera was nearby, and so was Biscuit. She didn’t even move while I took this.
July 12, 2025 Saturday - Today was a good day! For my birthday, Riley got me a ride in one of these. She asked me if I wanted to drive one, and I said “no”. I wanted to know what it felt like to ride in one of these with someone who knew what they were doing. We got to hang out during a short rain delay. Driving home after doing 70 on the highway felt like I was slowly rolling backwards.
July 11, 2025 Friday - This is the first Friday I’ve worked in a couple of months and it seemed like a long week and a long day. By the end of the day I just wanted to get out of the house. I took the pups with me and we did a grocery pickup and got some gas. After we drove over to the new Dairy Queen and got some burgers. We parked in front and had dinner in the car. They look so happy.
July 10, 2025 Thursday - Today was a little busy with work but I decided to get out with the pups and pick up a little lunch for all of us. I had a bit of freelance work to do this evening so late in the afternoon I got this to help me get through the rest of the day. A little sugar and a little chocolate really hit the spot. I only have few of these left. Sadness is coming.
July 9, 2025 Wednesday - Today was another long, busy day of work. I got another bit of work from one of my clients. When I was done with my day job, I took the pups for a walk and then came back and had dinner. I spent a portion of the evening getting my work done. I was sweeping under my desk this evening and found this. It was pretty big and wasn’t dead. I got this photo and then took him outside.
July 8, 2025 Tuesday - The bush on the side of the house has been blooming for a long while. Sometimes there are lots of blooms and sometimes only a few. I got this photo after our morning walk. Today was a busy day of work. At the end of the day, my sister-in-law called and invited me over for dinner. Before I went over for dinner, I took the pups for their evening walk.
July 7, 2025 Monday - Waking up this morning was a bit difficult. I had to finish up my freelance work when I got home last night. I had a pretty full day of work so at least it was good to stay busy. At some point I saw Zak at the end of the couch where I usually sit and grabbed my camera. I got photos of all the pups, but this one was the best.
July 6, 2025 Sunday - Tomorrow my baby turns 29. I drove into Dallas to meet her and Ari for an early birthday dinner. She picked my favorite Italian place. I took all the pups with me since it was a rare cool day in July and I knew there’s plenty of shade to park in at the restaurant. I found out the hard way it’s illegal to leave your dog in the car for more than five minutes regardless of the weather.
July 5, 2025 Saturday - This weekend I have quite a bit of freelance work to get done. Not to mention a bit of housework to do too. When I was done for the day, I took a break on the couch. On the occasion when Dutton actually sleeps, she takes her turn on the dog bed for a while. The rest of the dogs are all on the couch to get away from her.
July 4, 2025 Friday - Today was a great day. I got out to meet a friend for lunch up in Plano. We picked one of our favorite places, Craftway Kitchen. I love this place most for this Frozen Old Fashioned. It’s probably for the best that this place is a little over an hour’s drive from my house. I went over to my other friend’s house for food, drinks, and cigars. We were able to stay dry today.
July 3, 2025 Thursday - I have Dutton for another couple of days. This time here, she’s taken to lying at my feet under my desk while I work. Sometimes I don’t ever realize she’s crawled under, and I’ll start to put my feet on her. I’ve wanted a puppy for a very long time, but this girl has so much more energy than my older pups. Biscuit and Pancake don’t tolerate her, so she harasses Zak quite a bit.
July 2, 2025 Wednesday - Last time Dutton was here, she left this little pig chewy toy. She had already chewed out the squeaker. She found it while she was here, and she was quite obsessed with destroying it even more. It didn’t take long before she had decapitated it and millions of tiny little pink pieces of whatever this is made of all over the place.
July 1, 2025 Tuesday - This is one of my birthday presents. When I met my friend a few weeks back after a doctor’s appointment, I went over to his house. His wife is an amazing artist. She does these amazing paintings of birds. She has a series of cards that are in lots of museum gift shops. She let me flip through a large bin of her art and pick out the one I liked best. She even signed it.
