April 30, 2025 Wednesday - This photo reminds me of a good friend of mine’s car. She had so much dog hair in her car. Just like mine. Toward the end of the workday, I began thinking I could use a trip to the grocery store. We went on our evening walk and then hopped in the car to head into town. After groceries, we stopped to pick up the pups some burgers. I think I may be spoiling them because none of them ate their whole share.
April 29, 2025 Tuesday - Today was another full day of work. At the end of the day, I took the pups for our evening walk. We got back and had a bit of dinner. I did a little bit of freelance work and then watched an episode of The Amazing Race. Before going out for our last pee break, I got this photo of Pancake sleeping next to me on the couch.
April 28, 2025 Monday - After a very full day of work, I took the pups out for their evening walk. On the way back, I noticed two little orange blooms toward the front of the middle pasture. I let the pups run loose for a bit, and Zak found a way out the gate on the other side. Fortunately, someone in the distance started shooting a gun, and he was pretty easy to catch after that.
April 27, 2025 Sunday - Today, one of my God Daughters got engaged. It was a surprise. Her family and friends put together a big dinner, and I was happy to be included. It was good to spend time with all the family and be a part of the big event. The food was good, the flan was better, the margaritas were really good, and the laughs were plentiful.
April 26, 2025 Saturday - This might be my most prized possession. You know when you’re gone from your home, even on vacation, and you almost always look forward to sleeping in your own bed? While I do like my bed, I think this is the thing I miss the most. I love the weight and texture more than anything else. Last night, I washed my blanket, but forgot to put it in the dryer until I was ready to go to bed.
April 25, 2025 Friday - I had two meetings this morning. In both meetings, we were talking about breakfast. I brought up Chick-fil-A chicken biscuits and chicken minis. A minute or two after my last meeting, I got a text from the pharmacy that my prescriptions were ready. I took it as a sign to go get breakfast. Chick-fil-A is right across the street. The pups got to share in the treats too.
April 24, 2025 Thursday - I don’t remember what I did today, but I know I worked all day and had to listen to this guy snore on the couch most of the time. After our evening walk, I took the pups for a ride into town to pick up dinner. I was being lazy. After doing freelance work most evenings this week, the last thing I wanted to do was cook on my free evening.
April 23, 2025 Wednesday - I made Easter baskets for Riley and Rane last week. I had a bunch of candy left over that I gave to my nephew’s family for their baskets. I did keep a small dish of these Hershey chocolate footballs for myself. I wish there was a way to tell which ones are white chocolate. Those are not good at all.
April 22, 2025 Tuesday - Last night I gave the girls a bath. Neither of them was happy about it. They were so disagreeable after they didn’t really let me dry them off very well. I took a shower after I bathed them, and I think we all slept so much better. After work today, I went to dinner with my brother and his wife. When I got back, I did a bit of freelance work. At the end of the evening, I got this photo of Pancake.
April 21, 2025 Monday - Over Easter, I became a bit of a rabbit. I had all this with some hummus and grapes for lunch. I found this a bit too much red bell pepper. I really like a little bit of salami and cheese with all these veggies. I shared a bit of the salami with Zak and Biscuit. Pancake is not a fan, so she gets a little bit of cheese.
April 20, 2025 Sunday - Today, I spent a big portion of the day at my desk doing some freelance work. I wrapped things up for the most part when it was time to take the pups for our evening walk. After our walk, I drove us into town to pick up some dinner. I decided to end the day by finishing this bottle of Gentlemen Jack that a friend gave me a long while back.
April 19, 2025 Saturday - This morning I was rudely awakened by this guy. This isn’t the best photo, because he would stand still, but this stinger was in my leg twice around 5:15 a.m. I jumped out of bed, turned on the light, and saw this crawling across the bed. I caught it because I wasn’t sure what else to do. Aside from the pain, my lips tingled all day. I let him go on a wood pile later in the day. I’ve not had any cool new superpowers as of yet.
April 18, 2025 Friday - My nephew is back in town. I was pretty busy today with work, but my nephew and his wife stopped by for a few minutes to drop off a few goodies. He was out with his family, and they picked up a few whoopie pies for me. These were especially fresh. I was a bit tired toward the end of the day, and a little bit of a sugar rush helped me get through the day.
April 17, 2025 Thursday - Today, my brother got off work early. He called to ask if I wanted a burger for lunch. I walked over to meet him at his place. He has a couple of pots with bluebonnets growing in them. I love this time of year. There are bluebonnets and lots of other colorful flowers blooming all around our neighborhood. The burger was really good, too.
April 16, 2025 Wednesday - I took the pups for a walk this morning and saw this. The first thing that popped into my head was, “What are we going to do?” “I dunno. What do you want to do?” “Now don’t start that again.” I remember seeing The Jungle Book when I was a young adult and couldn’t believe they killed Baloo. Spoiler alert, he wasn’t dead after all.
April 15, 2025 Tuesday - Today I helped my brother put up a bit of fencing in the middle pasture. This will enclose a pretty big portion of it and give me a place to let Zak and the girls run around off leash. I can’t leave them out there unsupervised, partially because Biscuit and Pancake are hawk bait, but also Zak is an escape artist and I don’t trust him unsupervised.
April 14, 2025 Monday - Guess what happened today!!!!! I guess talking about it so much over the last week has brought it into being. After work, I took the pups for our evening walk. Just as we were getting back to our driveway, I saw this guy across the street. I can’t believe this happened in about a week. I guess I should put it out there that I’d like a million dollars and a cute redhead!
April 13, 2025 Sunday - Today was a really great day. It started by meeting a friend and her mom for lunch. Her mom was so sweet to me when my mom passed. After lunch, I went to my good friend’s house in Plano to share some ribs with him and his family. We smoked a cigar and watched the Masters. They wrapped it up just in time for me to go meet Riley and Rane for dinner. I was thinking on the drive home what a lucky guy I am.
April 12, 2025 Saturday - For the last week, I’ve been telling friends and family that while I’ve lived out here, all I wanted to do was get a photo of a roadrunner. I see them pretty often, but always while I’m driving. Today, while I was working from the couch, I saw a roadrunner run across our front yard. I couldn’t believe it. My brother said he sees them all the time near his goat pen. Side note: he was making ribs today.
April 11, 2025 Friday - I have a doctor’s appointment on Monday. They called yesterday and told me I needed to do some bloodwork. I took the pups with me for the ride to the doctor’s office. The car wash is along the way, so we decided to pull through. I got this family portrait while we were in there. I couldn’t get Biscuit to cooperate and look at the camera.
April 10, 2025 Thursday - Today was a good day. I took a break to meet a friend for lunch. I meant to take a photo, but we were so busy getting caught up that I forgot. I did remember to take this once I was done. I brought the pups along for the ride. She came out to meet them after lunch. I did stop and pick up some burgers for them on the way home.
April 9, 2025 Wednesday - Today I saw my sister driving back home just after lunch. I called her to see if she was coming to pick me up to take me to lunch. When we were coming back, I noticed the patch of Pinkladies on the side of the house had come back this spring. After going in and sharing the goodies I got for them at lunch, I grabbed my camera and went out and got this photo.
April 8, 2025 Tuesday - I don’t go into Dad’s room hardly ever. I don’t really ever have a reason to. I went into his room today to check the cable box on his TV. It’s only fitting when I turned on the TV, Gunsmoke was on. I haven’t watched that show since before Dad passed. I remember asking Dad if he could guess in Gunsmoke’s 20-year run how many times Matt Dillon got shot.
April 7, 2025 Monday - Today was a long day again. When I finished with my day job, I had another freelance job. A different client reached out late last week with a job they need tomorrow. Fortunately, it didn’t take too long to get done. When I was almost done, I got up to get a drink and saw Biscuit sleeping at the end of the couch. Most of the time when I’m working, I can hear the pups snoring on the couch.
April 6, 2025 Sunday - Today, I wrapped up the first round of edits for another freelance gig. After taking yesterday off to hang out with my friends, I needed to spend pretty much all of today at my desk. This job is for an answering service franchise with a lot of very uninteresting B-roll. The pups weren’t too happy with me being useless all day.
April 5, 2025 Saturday - Today was a really good day. I went up north to hang out with my friend again. Before we got together, I met another friend for lunch. She suggested a new place for us to try. I may have found a new favorite breakfast place. Too bad it’s all the way up in Plano. If you're in the area, try Crossroads Diner near Alma and the George Bush. This giant sticky bun was worth the drive.
April 4, 2025 Friday - Today after work, I took the pups for their evening walk. After our walk, we went straight to the car to go into town. We had to do some grocery shopping and pick up something for dinner. I had to stop in the driveway to air up my tire again. I think I must have a nail or something in it. It may be time for a new set of tires. While I was airing up the tire, I got this photo of Zak relaxing in the back.
April 3, 2025 Thursday - Last year I remember seeing little tiny frogs all over the place. This year I haven’t seen any frogs at all of any size until today. This morning as we were walking in from our walk, I saw this little guy on the back porch. Thankfully none of the pups saw it. After we got settled inside, I grabbed my camera and came outside to get this photo. Fortunately, he was still here.
April 2, 2025 Wednesday - This morning when we got up, it was drizzling, and it only got a bit heavier. But by the time I finished my two morning meetings, it stopped, so I was able to get the pups out for our morning walk down to the end of the block and back. We have so many dandelions in our yard, especially on the side of the house. I went in to get my camera when we got back.
April 1, 2025 Tuesday - Today is a bit of a sad day. This is my last Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookie from my dear cookie-making friend. I warmed it up for a few seconds in the microwave to make it extra perfect. I did share most of them with family shortly after I received them, so I didn’t eat them all. I did my best making them last this long.
