May 31, 2025 Saturday - After being gone almost all day yesterday and unexpectedly being gone for a bit this morning, I felt bad for the pups, so I took them out for dinner. I got them some little junior burgers, and they offered me pup cups for each of them. I asked for just one for them all to share. I got myself my own little banana split “pup cup”.
May 30, 2025 Friday - Today was a really good day. I got to have lunch with a friend and her boys. Later in the day, I made my way up to Plano to see my good friend’s son graduate. Somewhere among these 1,200+ kids down there, I know one of them. It’s been great to see this young man grow up over the last 15 years or so that I’ve known him. Also, so thankful that my good friend invited me to be a part of tonight.
May 29, 2025 Thursday - I decided to get out and run some errands and get some lunch today. I took the pups with me for a ride since the weather is still nice enough for them to be in the car. I decided to give the taco truck another chance. It was just as disappointing as the first time. I don’t think I’ll be coming back here even though Zak likes hanging out the window here.
May 28, 2025 Wednesday - Today my sister was out running errands. She called me late in the day and offered to bring me an early dinner. Walking out across the yard to meet her at the driveway, I saw this little thing growing. There was a little light shining on this, but by the time I finished eating and remembered to go take the photo, it was a bit cloudy.
May 27, 2025 Tuesday - I was sitting at my desk working when I saw something out the front window. I got up to see what it was. While I was up, Zak was lying on the couch, so I grabbed my camera. Pancake was lying on her bed in the sun, so I got a photo of her too. It’s been a while since I had a photo of her here in this collection, so I used her photo instead.
May 26, 2025 Monday - This evening after work, my sister called me to ask what I was going into town for and what I was going to pick her up for dinner while I was there. That’s her way of asking me to go get dinner for us. On the way there, I saw a great sunset, but I wasn’t in a position to take a photo. On the way home, the sun was shining on the clouds.
May 25, 2025 Sunday - Today was another really good day up north. It wasn’t just with my friend and his family this time, but there was still good food, good cigars, and good drinks. But lots more good friends. My cookie-making friend was there with her two girls too. This is the highlight of the meal: the picanha. My friend knows how to make this just right.

May 23, 2025 Friday - Today was a really great day. I got up early to go see my rheumatologist. That went well. Then I drove up to Plano to see a friend I’ve not seen in a very, very long time. After lunch, we walked over and each got a slice of Linda’s Fudge Cake. I’ve not had this in way too long. After lunch, I drove to go see a couple of my aunts. We went out and got a little treat too.
May 22, 2025 Thursday - It was late in the evening when I realized I needed a photo for today. I was cleaning the kitchen and came across this chocolate that I’ve been saving for a long while. A very dear friend brought this to me from Belgium. I put in new daytime-colored lights in the kitchen. They look great during the day, but at night they’re a little bit too blue for me.
May 21, 2025 Wednesday - Today was pretty busy with work. By the time I was done, I didn’t feel like doing anything. We did our evening walk and then we went for a drive into town for dinner. I ordered the pups’ kid burgers and they misunderstood and gave me kid’s meals. They kept the fries and little drinks but forgot the prizes in the bag. I got a beach ball and these glasses. I’m working with Zak to get him to wear them.
May 20, 2025 Tuesday - This is Zak’s arch-nemesis that lives at the end of the road. Every once in a while, this dog will see us on our walk and come running up to his fence to bark at us. One time, he even crawled under the gate and came out to say hello. He didn’t try to attack us, and Zak didn’t try to get him. They just barked at each other for a bit. This time, he watched us for a while before he came running.
May 19, 2025 Monday - Our morning walk got cut short because it started to rain. Our evening walk was a bit short because I was rushing back to get ready to meet my God Daughter and her fiancé for dinner. I took this to show her our walk over to Andy’s for dessert helped me close my rings today. Brownie Fudge Sundae and a little exercise. Win-win.
May 18, 2025 Sunday - I don’t drink much at home. The last time I was at the grocery, I picked up a 6-pack of Pacifico for the first time in a long while. I had one this evening. I love a cold beer every once in a while. Tonight was one of those times. Since I didn’t have a photo for today, I grabbed my camera and got this photo even though the bottle is practically empty.
May 17, 2025 Saturday - I got out early this morning to finally get my haircut. I took all the pups with me for the ride. I was going to get us some chicken minis from Chick-fil-A. We got there just after breakfast, so we went to run one more errand before heading back home. There’s a relatively new food truck on the way home. The breakfast burrito was really good. The street tacos were okay. Not bad in a pinch.
May 16, 2025 Friday - For the month of May, we’re doing four-day work weeks. Every Friday feels like I’m skipping school. Today, I got out to meet my boss for lunch. I got back later in the afternoon. I was about to pour myself a drink when I was texting a friend. She mentioned she had a big event to celebrate. I sent her a photo wishing her the best for her future.
May 15, 2025 Thursday - Today was another busy day. I got a bag of these Cuties on my last trip to the grocery store. I keep a bunch in the fridge all the time, and they’re now my go-to afternoon snack. I took a break in the middle of the day to get a couple of these and decided I might as well get a photo while I was taking a break.
May 14, 2025 Wednesday - Today was a busy day of work. I had a visitor this afternoon. When I came out to say hello, I noticed this little guy in the door frame of my side door. I was kind of surprised he didn’t move with me coming out and back. I grabbed my camera and came back out to get a photo of this little guy. Thankfully, he stayed put.
May 13, 2025 Tuesday - The other day while I was at the grocery store, I walked past the display with croissants. I thought it was about time I pull out my waffle maker. I picked up a package of Hershey’s Dark Chocolate to go along with these. This morning, the sun was shining on the box of croissants, and I thought they looked extra buttery in the morning light. I took them out for a quick shoot.
May 12, 2025 Monday - Today we got out a little earlier than usual for our evening walk. When we got to the side of the house, I saw this little guy on the side of the yard. Fortunately, none of the pups noticed him until he got pretty far out towards the front yard. By then, he was too far away for Zak and Pancake to make much fuss over him. Biscuit either can’t see or doesn’t care at all.
May 11, 2025 Sunday - Today was another good day. I met my two best friends from high school for lunch. One of them bought us a round of tequila shots. At least he ordered us the good stuff. We didn’t spend the whole afternoon drinking. I got home and took a quick nap. After being lazy for a while, I got out to take the pups for a walk. I got this near the end of the road where we turn around.
May 10, 2025 Saturday - Today was full of good food and great friends. It started with lunch on a patio with a good friend and a pineapple mojito. We had dessert after, too. I spent the rest of the day at another friend’s with him and his family. Good food and drink, and good cigars. There was nothing really special about dinner, but it was a really good time with my friend and his family.
May 9, 2025 Friday - We came across this little guy on our morning walk. At first, I thought maybe it was dead because it wasn’t moving at all. The dogs didn’t even notice him in the middle of the road. When I realized he was alive, I thought to move him to the side of the road but thought I’d leave him be. It was just a couple of minutes later on our way back when we passed, and he was nowhere to be found.
May 8, 2025 Thursday - Today was a pretty full day. I had a shoot in Dallas with my boss this morning. We did some head shots and group photos for one of our clients. I wrapped that up just in time to go meet some former coworkers/ friends for lunch. It was good to see them all together for the first time in a really long while. When I got home, I did a bit of work and then let the pups run around in the middle pasture for a while.
May 7, 2025 Wednesday - I’m seeing a roadrunner almost every day on our walks. Most of the time, it’s too far to get a very good photo. This evening, I saw this guy just as we got to the street. Fortunately, he was standing in the sun, and the guy walking up in the background was still far enough away to not scare him off. I don’t know if I’ll ever get a better shot as long as I have the pups with me.
May 6, 2025 Tuesday - My brother moved his cows to the middle pasture yesterday before our Cinco de Mayo lunch. This afternoon, he called me to come see the newest addition to his herd. This little one didn’t walk over yesterday, so it definitely was born within the last 24 hours. The rain we had most of the morning must have given him a good shower.
May 5, 2025 Monday - No roadrunners this morning, but I did see quite a few male and female cardinals. The only clear view I had of this one was when I was almost directly underneath him. While I was out walking, I saw my brother out working in his yard. I talked him into going to lunch for tacos and margaritas. It is Cinco de Mayo after all. We went to Rio Mambo, and I had an Attitude Adjustment!
May 4, 2025 Sunday - This morning as we were walking down the road, this roadrunner was running back and forth across the road ahead of us. It disappeared into the brush. The dog at the end of the road came out to say hi. Zak did so much better than usual. He’s getting better. On the way back home, another bird was running across the road. I only got the top of his head over the top of a rise in the road.
May 3, 2025 Saturday - I decided I would start taking my camera with me on our walks. I’ve seen so many roadrunners this spring. Way more than I’ve seen in the last two springs. I didn’t see any this first walk this morning, so I got this photo of the horses down at the end of our block. Of course, I forgot the camera on our evening walk, and I saw a big one in my brother’s yard.
May 2, 2025 Friday - Today was Biscuit and Pancake’s turn to go to the vet for their vaccinations. They were really well-behaved. Surprisingly. On the way in, I saw the prettiest Corgi. It had the normal brown and white fur pattern, but the dark brown area was brindle. I’ve never seen a brindle Corgi. There was also the most handsome pit mix in there. He growled a lot, and no one sat near him.
May 1, 2025 Thursday - I had to take a few photos for work today. We’re doing some cool new stuff for work. I grabbed my camera and walked past the couch where Zak was snoring. Apparently I woke him up. Last time I took him to the vet I asked them to do his nails. He came back with a muzzle on and long nails. He really hates having them done. They said they would have to sedate him. Hahahaha
